Not all pellet rifles are created the same. Determining the right one to purchase can be a bit overwhelming. There is a multitude of options and styles available. The rifle selected should match the intended use. Pellet rifles are generally used for competition, hunting, pest control, target shooting and plinking.

Competition rifles are highly accurate and have enhanced trigger adjustments. More sophisticated models are pre-charged pneumatics featuring five-way adjustable match triggers. They are characterized by the buttpad and cheekpiece which aids shot stabilization. These pellet rifles will run into the thousands of dollars.

Pellet rifles intended for hunting and pest control are generally rated at higher velocities and can have a variety of power source options including multi-pump, spring-piston, gas-piston and pre-charged pneumatic. Casual shooters lean toward the cheaper multi-pumps, spring-pistons or gas-pistons, while more serious hunters opt for the the pre-charged pneumatics. Larger caliber pellet rifles are available for larger sized game.

While just about any pellet rifle can be used for casual plinking and target shooting, those rated at lower velocities are generally intended specifically for that purpose. They also make good starter guns for the beginning shooter.

Pellet rifles are made with different cocking actions. Pump-action, break-barrel, bolt-action and lever-action are the most common. Some pellet rifles are scopeable, while others are not. Shot capacities vary from rifle to rifle, whlie velocities can range from under 600 fps to over 1200 fps depending on the rifle.

Advancements in pellet rifle design offer additional options for the consumer. The trigger pulls and the trigger guards have been much improved. Recoil pads made of rubber, scopes that are more adjustable, checkered synthetic stock and camoflauged stock are some of the developments to consider.

The selection process should start with intended use and functionality, followed by desired features and finally preferred style.

We have the best selection of pellet rifles at the lowest prices!
