BB
guns fire little cartridges called bbs. However, bb guns must
be used with caution because they can potentially be very harmful
to human beings. There are also many different types of bb guns.
Most bb guns are safe unless the gun is aimed and shot at particularly
sensitive areas of the body. Often, bb guns are used for the purpose
of target shooting.
There are many types of bb guns, and some are used to kill smaller
game such as birds, moles, and other small pests. The different
types of bb guns there are can be are usually classified barbeque
the way they are made.
For example:
1) Gas Powered bb guns:
Some types of bb guns use compressed gas as their power source.
Usually these types of bb guns have canisters that the user can
refill when the bb gun’s power runs out.
a) A gas powered type of bb gun will usually have a revolver-style
system for loading the bb’s.
b) In the case of some types of bb guns, such as bb gas-powered
pistols, the ammo is loaded in by method of a spring magazine.
(It has been said that previously loaded gas-compression
types of bb guns can shoot very powerfully up to 800 feet.)
2) Hand pumps:
a) Some people prefer to use certain types of bb guns with hand
pumps, these allow the air around them to be compressed much like
that of gas-powered types of bb guns.
b) The advantage of these types of bb guns is that they are less
expensive, as well as more reliable because they do not require
new ammo cartridges etc.
c) The disadvantage of these types of bb guns is that air powered,
hand-pumps must be re-pumped to recharge. Therefore, it takes more
time to “reload” or re-compress to be more precise.
3) Spring rods:
a) The types of bb guns with a spring rod system for propulsion
include a rod attached to a spring (hence the name).
b) Because of the system of propulsion, when the gun is cocked,
the rod will pull back, then a bb will be loaded into the gun.
c) Often, these types of bb guns are introduced to a child as the
first bb gun he or she will own. These are definitely considered
among the safer types of bb guns available.
4) Spring piston:
a) The spring piston types of bb guns are similar to spring rod
guns. The difference is that the compression spring, in the compression
chamber, attaches to a plunger.
b) The compression chamber of a spring piston is much larger than
the barrel of these types of bb guns, and they are, of course, more
dangerous to use.
c) The spring piston types of bb guns are famous for being reliable
and are very often used in competitions for shooting at targets
etc. The velocity of one of these types of bb guns goes up to 300
feet. Usually these bb guns are used with a bb magazine for pellets
(or bb’s) and are often considered expert types of bb guns.
5) Air guns:
a) Other types of bb guns include air guns—bb guns such as
these are more powerful than people give them credit for. In fact,
there are many countries in which specific restrictions have been
applied to the use of these bb guns.
b) Despite the power and potential danger of the types of bb guns
classified as Air bb guns, many owners of such guns actually work
to improve (or increase) the power of the gun.
